Simu Liu teases that Shang-Chi could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner than expected. During an interview with People, the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star said there could be another Marvel movie where her character interacts with other major superheroes.
“I’m a huge fan of both the characters and the artists who play them, so every collaboration is an opportunity for me to work with someone who pushes the envelope and is at the top of their game in their own way. Liu told the publication that he is part of the MCU. “I think that’s what excites me the most as a performer. [and] also as a fan. He later joked: “Who knows, maybe they’ll see it a little sooner than you think. We’ll see.” (Hollywood reporter)

The Kim’s Convenience star will reprise the role of Shang-Chi in the film’s sequel, with Destin Daniel Cretton once again directing. “Destin is an incredible collaborator who brought a unique perspective and skills to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” the Marvel director said when the sequel was announced in December 2021. “We had a fantastic time collaborating on the film and he has so many exciting ideas for bringing stories to life on Disney+, so we’re thrilled to continue our relationship with him and can’t wait to get started.” The sequel doesn’t have a release date yet, but there will be numerous Marvel Studios projects he could appear in in the coming years.
Outside of her Marvel role, Liu stars in Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie, which hits theaters July 21.
