Michelle Yeoh dedicated her award to her mother

Almost a month after the Oscars, Michelle Yeoh brought home her Oscar to the woman she dedicated the award to. The Malaysian-born actress shared a sweet photo of her mom holding the trophy to her Instagram on Tuesday with the caption, “I brought Mr. O home…. Without the love, trust and support of my parents… I would not be here today… they love me very much”.
Her second photo in the carousel post included a photo of the statuette at her father’s grave in Malaysia.

Last month, Yeoh made history by becoming the first Asian woman to win the Academy Award for best actress. She took home the Oscar for her portrayal of Evelyn Wang in A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, which won a total of seven Oscars. (Hollywood reporter)

During her thank you speech at the 2023 ceremony, the actress dedicated her award to someone very close and special to her: “I have to dedicate this to my mom, to all the moms in the world, because they are superheroines, and without them, none of us would be here tonight. She continued: “She is 84 years old and I will bring this home to her. She is watching right now, in Malaysia with my family and friends…” (Hollywood Reporter)
